Gill and Amy Davidson, parents of four home-schooled children, are making travel more affordable for the homeschool community. Their business, "Home Schooler's Home Exchange Neighborhood" brings together families interested in keeping travel costs down by swapping homes. Some recent listings include a Georgia ranch home in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a 100-year old Pennsylvania farmhouse on 40 acres, and a home in the Hudson Valley, with easy transportation to New York City.
Amy has worked as a travel consultant, and provided wholesale travel to Africa, Central America and South America. She first caught the "travel bug" from her aunt and uncle. Amy fondly remembers, "picking them up at the airport, listening to glowing stories of the wide world, and then seeing them off again to their fascinating homes in Africa, or South America."
In the summer of 2006, the Davidsons took a trip to Washington D.C. The hotel costs of over $1000.00 inspired Amy to provide this economical service to homeschool families. Home Schooler's Home Exchange Neighborhood offers home exchange all over the U.S., with listings abroad coming soon. To visit the website, go to hsneighbor.com. Amy Parker 2009
